Death: Nov. 17, 1965

Posey was a dentist in Brady, McCullough Co, TX. Posey was born in 1900 on a ranch near Fisher, Texas. Fisher was later known as North Roby and is now a ghost town. In 1910, the family moved to Abilene to provide a better education for the children. Posey attended Simmons College (now Hardin-Simmons University). He was a good athlete, playing basketball (all-state forward), football and baseball (shortstop, lead-off batter). His nickname in college was "Hefty", in spite of his small stature. He graduated in 1922. He earned his D.D.S. from Baylor School of Dentistry.

Posey loved his early childhood years on the ranch and began ranching himself as soon as he had the means to do so.

His obituary in the Brady Standard-Herald said of him, "Dr. Collins played a great part in the growth and development of Brady and in 1949 was honored by the Brady Chamber of Commerce as McCulloch County's Distinguished citizen for services he performed in 1948. He was a former Brady High School coach, coming here in the early 1920's and in 1954, the 1923 football team of Brady High School honored him during the game between Brady and Hamilton."

His sister, Ida Jane Collins, wrote of him, "A true cowboy is free-hearted; if he likes a person, he will go 'to the end of the trail' for that friend. Whatever his years, he remains at heart a youth. Posey Collins surely does possess the true western spirit. At times he may have 'grabbed the brandin' iron by the hot end', but his vision has never wavered. He still practices the true cowboy spirit of riding the range in search of the 'down and out' person and helps him back to recovery--to faith in himself and his Maker."
