Thaddeus Wesley Myron Davis was born in Galveston, Texas. He was the son of Thaddeus Davis (10 Apr 1886 - 12 Jan 1953) and Lottie Annie Wolverton (1894 - 25 Oct 1978). He was called "Wesley." He graduated from Angleton High School and earned a law degree from the University of Texas Law School. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific in World War II.
Thad was married to Nan Davis for 50 years and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Their home was in Freeport.
He began his law practice in 1950 and became a senior partner in the firm of Davis, Newton and Davis, retiring in 1991. He served as a municipal court judge in Freeport Texas until his retirement in 1995.
The author of Texas Senate Resolution No. 73, 1995 remembered him as follows: "He had a strong personality and was well known for his integrity, his decisiveness, and his forthrightness; he was also compassionate and generous and gave willingly of his time to help others."
Thad was a civic leader serving on the hospital board, MHMR board, American Legion Post, the Brazosport Rotary Club and El Mina Shrine Temple. He was a devoted member of First Methodist Church of Freeport.
