H. H. Albrecht Dies At 91: Pioneer’s Son

Herman H. Albrecht Sr., 91, son of pioneer Lake County settlers, and a former Mundelein Civic leader died Saturday in Condell Memorial Hospital, Libertyville.

Born in Libertyville Township, he had been a resident of Mundelein since 1904 and was a past member of the Fremont Township Board of Education, forerunner to today’s separate school boards.

A former member of the County’s Board of Election Commissioners, he also was a one-time Village Trustee, having been elected April 21, 1914 and served through April 1916 while the village was known as Area.

He and his wife, Augusta, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Dec. 1.

Surviving in addition to the widow are four sons, Herman Jr. and Thomas of Mundelein; William in New Mexico and Harold of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Matsick of Niles and Adelia Pollard of South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Burnett and Kristan Funeral Home, 533 N. Lake St., Mundelein with the Rev. Arthur Koch officiating.

Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville.
