Anna Elizabeth "Annie" Yount was born on Feb. 16, 1819 in Lincoln Co., North Carolina. She was the daughter of Samuel Yount (1790-1860) and Catherine Lutz (1797-1869).

Both of Anna's parents were born in Lincoln Co., NC and lived their entire lives there. They are buried in the Trinity Evangel Lutheran Church Cemetery located in Vale, Lincoln Co., NC.

About 1841 Annie married Josiah Adolphus Boyles (1816-1894) in Lincoln Co., NC. Annie was 22 years old at the time, Josiah 25. They would be married for about 53 years and have four known children. They are listed in Josiah's memorial.

Annie's husband Josiah, a farmer and part-time Methodist preacher, was born in Henry Co., NC and was the son of Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) preacher, John Boyles II (1770-1843). Josiah's great-grandfather, William Boyles (1720-1818), had immigrated to America about 1738 settling near Petersburg, Virginia. Anne's son, Marcus Wrightman Boyles (1842-1892), was also an "old-time" Methodist Episcopal preacher

Josiah died on Aug. 1, 1894 in Burke Co., NC at the age of 78. Annie died on Mar. 16, 1905 at the age of 86, also in Burke Co., NC. They are buried in the Salem Methodist Church Cemetery located in that county. During their lifetimes the Salem Church was Methodist Episcopal (M.E.). It is now a member of the United Methodist denomination.
