Burrell Clarence "BC" Boyles was born on Apr. 6, 1894 in New London, Stanly Co., North Carolina. He was the son of Augustus Clingman "AC" Boyles (1867-1936) and Anna Eliza "Annie" Coggin (1862-1914), the second of their four known children, all sons. AC and Annie are buried in the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, Durham Co., NC.

Burrell's father, AC, a medical doctor, was the son of Methodist preacher Marcus Wrightman Boyles (1842-1892) and Susannah Alice "Susan" Wood (1846-1895). AC's paternal great-grandfather, John Boyles II (1770-1843), was also an "old-time" Methodist preacher.

Burrell's mother, Anna Eliza "Annie" Coggin, was the daughter of Burwell Titus "Burrel" Coggin Jr. (1814-1885) and Cirona Harris (1836-1873). They are buried in the Coggin Family Cemetery in Montgomery Co., NC.

In 1916 Burrell left college (North Carolina State) to join the US Navy. In 1919 he married Sallie Ruth Cobb (1894-1985). She was the daughter of William Rankin "Willie" Cobb (1868-1917) and Lula Ella Wright (1869-1955).

Burrell and Salie were married for about 56 years and had three known children. They were Ruth Cobb Boyles (1921-2004), Burrell Clarence "Pete" Boyles Jr. (1922-2003) and Paul Weldon Boyles (1925- ).

Sallie died on May 4, 1985 in Gibsonville, Guilford Co., NC at the age of 91. She was buried in Alamance Memorial Park located in Burlington, Alamance Co., NC.

Burrell died on Mar. 24, 1989 in Alamance Co., NC at the age of 94. He too, was buried in Alamance Memorial Park, next to his wife, Sallie. Their daughter, Ruth (Boyles) Walker, and their son, Pete Boyles, are also buried in this cemetery, along with their spouses.
