Elizabeth4 Bowman "Betsy" [daughter Colonel Abram], was Born, 16 Aug 1798, in Fayette Co., KY. Died, 12 Jun 1835, in Fayette Co., KY. Burial: 19 Sep 1867, in (reinterned), Lexington Cem, KY. Resided in South Elkhorn, Fayette Co., KY.
Joseph and Elizabeth (1st cousins married) lived near Lexington, KY off the Harrodsburg Pike on Bowman's Mill Road. Their home was adjacent to the North side of the Woolfolk home place. Both homes are slightely North and
across the road on the South Elkhorn creek from the "Helm Place", which was the location of Colonel Abraham's home place - "Betsy's" father.
As an inheritance from her first cousin John Bowman (son of Col John) Betsy received a 1/6 prorated share of all his Henry County KY lands.
Joseph and his wife Elizabeth each, separately, were heirs to property of John Bowman (Jr) their first cousin and son of Colonel John (Johannes) Bowman of Bellevue plantation in Mercer County.
"Betsy" died about the time her last child was born and she was first buried in what was probably the Bowman Family Cemetery on South Elkhorn, it's location yet unknown. The Lexington Cemetery began operation in 1849 and her remains were relocated there in 1867. Three of her small children are buried together, near Betsy, in Lexington with the names Elizabeth, Mary Eliza & Elizabeth.
The family first burial place was probably a Bowman Family cemetery (location unknown) and on 19 Sept 1867 they were moved and interred in the Lexington Cemetery which began operation in 1849. Three children, Elizabeth, Mary Eliza &
Elizabeth are buried with Joseph and Elizabeth in the Lexington Cemetery. Seven children are known to survive to adulthood.
Sadly Betsy wanted a child to carry her name - unfortunitely they tried three separate times naming a daughter Elizabeth and all three perished at a young age.
