Arie Turner Alford, 89, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Visitation is 4-7 pm today at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 10 am Monday, October 26, 2009, at the funeral home with burial in Line Creek Cemetery in Morton. Rev. Scott Walters, Rev. Bernard Nail and Dr. Clarence Cooper will officiate.
Mr. Alford was a native of Scott County and a resident of Rankin County for the past 11 years moving from Morton. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church and a former member of Line Creek Baptist Church in Scott County where he had served as a deacon. Mr. Alford had worked for many years in management in the Poultry Industry in Scott County and also had owned and operated a poultry farm. He served 8 years in United States Navy during World War II, having served on the U. S. S. Enterprise and U.S.S. Yorktown.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Alford of Brandon; daughters, Janis Alford Simpson and husband, James T. of Huntsville, Alabama, Joan Alford Terry and husband, Jim of Clinton; grandchildren, Jason Simpson and wife, Brandy and Jamie Simpson of Huntsville, Alabama, Ryan Terry of Flowood and Allyn Ann Terry Simpson and husband Jeremy of Lake Forest, California; niece, Julie Alford Martin of Brandon and nephew, Michael Alford of Brandon.
