But according to the Registre civique in 1811/1812 of Hallum, mairie Blija, laborer Haring Tjallings Veenstra, residing in Jislum, was born on 6 December 1782. It's likely that 1782 is a transcription error and must be 1787 because then everything fits quite well.
His parents were very probably mennonites (doopsgezinden), so there is no baptism and birth record of a DRC available.
On 17 February 1811 Haring Tjallings married at the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) of Wanswerd and Jislum to Aaltje Jans. They were both residing then in the tiny country village of Jislum, municipality Ferwerderadeel, in the northern part of Friesland.
On 11 March 1812 Haring Tjallings, residing in Jislum, adopted at the temporary townhall at Blija, municipality Ferwerderadeel, in the northern part of Friesland, the surname Veenstra. He signed the akte in a neat and nice way with "H T Veenstraa".
