Marius H. Aubol, 91, New Town, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 1989 in a New Town nursing hom. His funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. in the Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot.
He was born May 26, 1898, in Canby, Minn., to Martin and Ida Aubol. They moved to the Berwick area, where he grew up, in 1905. He lived in the Parshall and Raub area, then the Van Hook area, in the early 1920s, where he worked for Ulrich's Merchantile. He moved to Sanish in 1923, starting Sanish Implement, which became Aubol Implement in 1953 when it relocated to New Town because of the Garrison Dam. He was active in the dealership until shortly before his death. He married Irene Estenson at Van Hook September 17, 1932.
He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in New Town, a charter member of the New Town Kiwanis, a member of the Sanish and New Town fire departments and was the last mayor of Sanish. He was also a member of the New Town City Council and served as president of the Sanish-Van Hook Townsite Relocation Corporation, which bought land and established New Town.
Survivors include his wife, New Town; sons, Marland, Clare, Royce and Roger, all of New Town; daughter, Lorna Masuo, Edmonds, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Waldo, Albuquerque, NM and Quentin, San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Alpha Harding, Albuquerque, NM, Lucile Griffee, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mildred Robinson, St. Charles, La.
