In 1902 Doctor Byers married Miss Daisy Sherman, who was born in Mount Crawford, Virginia, a daughter of John W. Sherman, a miller. Doctor and Mrs. Byers have had the following children born to them : Catherine, who was graduated from Randolph-Macon College, married David B. Horner, Junior, with the Loan & Trust Bank of Lynchburg, Virginia ; F. L,. who is a senior in the medical department of the Univer- sity of Virginia; Charlotte, who is attending a woman's college; A. C, who is a junior in the Augusta Military Academy ; Carl, who is in his third year of high school ; Nancy, who is in her second year in high school ; and Dorothy, who is of the eighth grade. The family all belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, of which he is a steward. He belongs to the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (Virginia: Rebirth of the Old Dominion, Lewis Publishing Co., Chicago & NY 1929, Vol IV, p. 106 -107.)
