Catherine was born in Carrignavar, Cork, Ireland to John Donovan and Julia Coleman. She married Timothy Dilworth and they had 6 children, all of whom immigrated to Cambridge MA. Catherine immigrated to Cambridge in 1906, where she lived with her daughters Ellen O'Brien and later Margaret Dynan. She died in 1916 at the home of her daughter Margaret. Her funeral was at St Peter's church and she is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden Massachusetts in a grave with her daughter Catherine. This grave also backs the grave of her daughter Julia and son in law Jeremiah Murphy.
