Rebecca Belle Hall was born in Appling County, GA. She was the daughter of Seaborn Hall (1846-1872, grave site unknown at this time) and Emily Caroline Rogers Hall. Belle, as she was called by family, later moved to Tattnall County and spent her childhood years with her grandparents, John A. & Mary Rogers and James F.,Sr., & Rebecca Hall. Belle's widowed mother later married John H. Allen.
Belle married James Scott Johnson in 1886. They had 9 children, 7 of whom survived into adulthood. After the death of her beloved Scott, Belle moved to Decatur, GA, to live with her daughter's family for several years until her death in 1945.
