Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker. She was a cook at USD 338 in Valley Falls for 13 years. She worked for the state of Kansas for eight years in the Titles and Registration Department.
She is a member of Coal Creek United Methodist Church and the You and I Club. She was dedicated to her family and friends and supported their participation in rodeos, roping events and horse and livestock shows.
She was born September 27, 1929, north of Valley Falls, to Oscar and Esther Elizabeth Leu Reichart. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1948.
She married Rollie M. "Rod" Stephens on October 27, 1951, at Van Buren, Ark.
She is preceeded in death by a brother, Dean Leu Reichart, and a sister, June Folley, and twin granddaughters in infancy Alicia Lee and Alexis Leu Stephens.
Survivors include her husband, Rollie, of the home; three sons Larry Dean Stephens and his wife, Teressa, Valley Falls; Harold Lee Stephens, Dension; Bradley Ray Stephens and his wife, Judy, Holton; two daughters Carol Beth Wilken, and her husband, John, Dension; and Mary Lou Clark, and her husband, David, Valley Falls; and a close friend Rick Engweiler, Dension; and a sister Judy Elaine Reichart, Lawerence, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial was at Coal Creek Cemetery.
