Dorothy L. “Nanny” Carter 82, of Frostproof went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 after a long battle with COPD.

She was born December 29, 1930 in Thomasville, Georgia to the late William H. and Mary J. (Gaicwious) Lucas and had been a resident of this area since 1955. Dorothy worked for 37 years in the cafeteria at Frostproof Jr. and Sr. High School and attended God’s Family Assembley Church in Frostproof.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ike Carter; 2 brother and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Buster and wife Frieda Carter, and Chandler and wife Pamela Carter, both of Frostproof; 8 Grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren

Funeral Service were held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at God’s Family Assembly Church with Rev. Wrynn Collins officiating. Interment was held at the Silver Hill Cemetery. Family received friends at the church on Saturday from 2:00 PM until service time.
