Frederick S. Adams, 84, of 333 Broad St. Terre Hill, died Tuesday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Helen "Tink" Kern Adams. They observed their 61st wedding anniversary on March 28.
He was the retired owner and founder of the Oak Creek Campground in Bowmansville. Before that, he was self-employed in the retail bakery business.
He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Terre Hill, where he formerly taught Sunday school and served as usher and greeter.
He was a 52-year member of the Ephrata Lodge No. 665 Free and Accepted Masons and also Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Reading Consistory and the Rajah Temple in Reading.
He also was a member of the Adamstown Veterans of Foreign Wars and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate in the North Atlantic.
He was an avid golfer and member of the Hawk Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed wood-carving and traveling, covering all 50 states.
Born in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Frederick S. and Lottie Wessner Adams.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one sister, Kathryn Myers, of Terre Hill, and nieces and nephews.
