Lennie Ashby
MOORESVILLE Mrs. Lennie Rue West Ashby, 91, of Brantley St., died peacefully Saturday morning, Oct.5, 2013, at her home surrounded in love, by all of her children and her sister. Born Sept. 19, 1922, to the late Fred G. and Vernon C. Baker West in Lumberton, Lennie was the wife of the late Robert C. Ashby.

She is survived and continues to be loved by her children and their spouses, Mary Osborne Dixon (Sonny), James Osborne (Carolyn), Terry Osborne (Lynda), Lynn Osborne Nelson (Doug) and Diane Osborne (Jeff Jamison); sister, Mildred Willoughby; and brother, Lewis James West. Lennie lived to see four more generations follow her, including grandchildren Lisa Myers, Billy Cockrell, Paul Cockrell, Cindy Karriker, Kelly Dellinger, Alexandra and Elizabeth Norsworthy-Nelson and Kimberly Ellis; great-grandchildren, Justin Reid, Candice Karriker, Sierra and Chloe Dellinger, Hannah and Cameron Ellis, Josh, Austin and Travis Hutcherson; and great-great-grandchildren, Maverick and Aria Reid. She is also survived by several generations nieces, nephews, their spouses, as well as her husband's children, Dorothy Love, Betty Bruff and Robert Ashby Jr.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Laughton West and David West; two sisters, Emma Willoughby and Viola Willoughby; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Reid and Cole Karriker; as well as former husband, James Douglas Osborne. Lennie loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her children, their families, her brothers, sisters and their families and close friends and to care for all of them, as long as she was able to do so. She was a member of Mt. Mourne Church of God and enjoyed bible study sessions every week, in her home, after she was no longer able to attend formal worship services.

Viewing is from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m., at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville. The family would like to especially thank Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County and especially for the loving care given by hospice caregiver, Barbara Pintinio and nurse, Jayne Shelton, as well as bible study friends, Mary and Paulette.
