Lifelong Muncie resident Delphia M. Bell, 85, died Tuesday in Ball Hospital following a long illness. She was born in Muncie, attended city schools and was the widow of Howard E. Bell.
Surviving are two daughters, Georgetta Batt, Muncie, and Norma Homan, Lewisville; a son, Howard, Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Curtis (Anna) Bantz and Mary Anderson, both of Muncie, and Helen Neal, Lawndale, Calif.; a brother, Lloyd Vining, Dunkirk; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary Chapel.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Calling at the mortuary is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday or before services Friday.
Delphia and Howard married on 10JUL1920 in Delaware County. They had 5 children: Rosemary, Georgetta, Howard "Jack", Joseph, and Norma. Joseph died at age 4 from scarlet fever.
