Phoebe Grant is the daughter of David Lawrence and Susannah (nee Schriver) Grant. Phoebe who is also known as Eve, is found in the 1861 census with her parents in the Southampton, York County, New Brunswick area where she was born.
Her marriage to Charles H Currie was marked in the 1871 census as Feb 7th 1871 and from there she is living with her husband and his Family working the family Business.
We find her full birth date in the 1901 and 1911 census as Dec 26 1843.
What we do know about Phoebe is that she was married for 19 years before her husband passed away and she was left to raise 3 youth on her own and care for the family farm.
After she was widowed in 1890 Phoebe made a living using the home as "Room and Board" for those going to Normal School in Fredericton. She was kind hearted taking in and adopting a 10 year old girl named Rhoda from England.
Phoebe was a member of the Baptist Church and in their record book is marked her death however it is so faint that we need more records to be accurate. The Baptist Church is located next to the property her husband Charles Currey/Currie inherited from his Grandfather George Sutherland.
Her husband's Uncle, James Robert Currey a Barrister would settle her husband's Estate and her Grant siblings would be a great help to her. It appears that she was quite close with her brother Gordon Grant, naming her son after him.
