Birth: 1849
Death: May 8, 1931

Lucey was the daughter of George C Rabon and Mary Ann Johnson. Her exact birth date is unknown, however, she was listed as 11 months old in the 1850 census, 11 in 1860, 18 in 1870, and 33 in 1880. She told the 1900 census taker that she was born in January of 1850. Her age is listed as 65 in 1910, 70 in 1920 and 89 in 1930. The most reliable indication of her age would seem to be the 1850 census.

Her siblings were Nancy, Abraham, Phillip Asbery, Ellen, Alfred, Andrew Jackson, Catherine, and Rebecca. Her paternal grandfather was the notorious Abraham Rabon about whom much has been recorded in Horry Co.

Lucey had 2 sons whose father is unknown. They were Ransom Rabon [?could Ransom in the 1880 census be Simpson Rabon?, and Charles W Rabon. She was married to Solomon Skipper for a short time and had one daughter, Rena. She married Josiah Barnhill and had one daughter, Tronie Ann.

Various records indicate differing dates of birth; however, comparison of those leads me to conclude that she was born in 1849. The 1850 Census, which was enumerated in August of that year, says she is 10 months old. Also, her pension application based of...(Read more)
