Winifred Shomette was my Grandmother. I called her Mee - Maw. I spent every summer with her in College Park, Maryland. She was a manager at Little Tavern in College Park, Md. She liked the television shows the Love Boat, All In The Family, Dukes of Hazzard, Beverly Hillbillies, and I Love Lucy. Every Friday night she ate at Pondersosa Steak House and would get the T-bone steak with a baked potato and salad. She also loved the fish fillet sandwiches at McDonalds. Her favorite soft drink was Tab. But she mostly drank coffee or tea. I loved listening to her stories about when she was a girl. She had to walk five miles to school with her three older sisters and younger brother. She also knitted and crocetted baby sweaters and blankets. Mostly these were gifts for family and friends. I wish I had learned. My Grandmother passed away at her daughters home in Winchester, Virginia. She was watching The Price Is Right. She had a lump in her back which had turned into cancer. She never told anyone.
