DANIEL ASHLEY was born 29 August 1792 in Fairfield, NY; died 23 March 1866 in Oswego, IL, son of Deacon Daniel and Olive (Boardman) Ashley. He married, 1rst, 25 March 1817 in Turin, NY, Amy Barner born 3 Dec 1799 and died 14 Dec 1833 in Martinsburgh, NY. He married his 2nd, 24 May 1834 in Martinsburgh, NY, Lucy Sturtevant.
Daniel Ashley came in childhood with his father to Martinsburgh, NY, and settled as a farmer there after his marriage. In 1835 he emigrated with other members of his family to Kendall County, IL, and settled in the town of Oswego, where he was engaged in farming for over thirty years and up to his death.
Mr. Ashley was a Baptist. He was one of the first five trustees of the Martinsburgh United Baptist Society, formed November 6, 1824, and was prominent in the religious affairs of that denomination both there and in Oswego.
