Abigail was born c. March 31, 1772 in Vermont. Her surname is unproved but it is believed to be Moore. She was a widow with at least one child, probably living in Vermont, when she married Nahum Parkhurst: "A few days since, a melancholy accident happened in the family of Mr. Nahum Parkhurst of this town. Two kettles overset and scalded the youngest child of his wife (by her former husband) in so shocking a manner as to occasion its death." November 21, 1797, The Vermont Gazette, p. 172, Bennington, VT.
She married Nahum Parkhurst about 1796 probably in Vermont. They had four children: James S. who married Hannah Walker; Sophia who married Lemuel Cotrill; Nahum Amos who married Roxanna Ashley and Amanda who married David Cheney.
They were living in Bennington, VT in 1797, Fairfield, NY in 1800. On May 12, 1808(recorded June 20, 1808), Nahum and Abigail sold 103 acres of land in Lot No. 10 in the county for $2500. In 1810, they were living in Herkimer, NY and in 1820 in Chautauqua, NY. He made an original purchase of 11 acres of land in the town (township) and county of Chautauqua, N.Y. in June of 1817, township 4, range 13, north part of the town. Abigail passed away May 6, 1850 in Chautauqua, NY and is buried in the Pleasantville Cemetery beside her husband, Nahum.
