JOSHUA BOARDMAN was born in Wethersfield, CT on Nov. 18, 1702. He was the son of Daniel Boardman and Hannah Wright. He was married to Sarah Stockwell, daughter of Eleazer Stockwell and Sarah Pearse, on Feb. 14, 1724-5 by Mr. Timothy Collins, pastor of the church at Litchfield. Source: A genealogical register of the inhabitants of the town of Litchfield, CT, p. 37.

By the will of his father Joshua received his house and half his land in Litchfield and half his land at New Milford. In 1723, he was one of the committee to build the West Fort in Litchfield. He remained in Litchfield until about 1731, in which year he calls himself of "Ousatonnock" in the county of Hampshire (incorporated as Sheffield in 1733). He had two whole rights of land granted to him in the second division. Joshua's two rights formed an extensive holding, portions of which he sold from time to time by deeds which are recorded at Springfield.

This is all we know of Joshua's family, as the records of Sheffield, both church and town, are almost entirely wanting for that period. Sarah Stockwell is supposed to have been the mother of four or five of the eight children of whom mention is found, while another wife, Amy (daughter of Captain Richard Case and Amy Reed) was mother of the remainder. Joshua Boardman's will is in the probate files at Pittsfield, MA. It was made Dec. 22, 1760 and proved July 30, 1761.

Children of Joshua Boardman are Elizabeth who married Lt. Thomas Whitney; Daniel who married Sarah ___; Joshua who married Dorothy Case; Olive who married Josiah Fox; Rosanna; Elijah who married Prudence ____; Mary who married Elisha Smith and Hannah who married Benjamin Cowles Jr. Boardman genealogy, 1525-1895 : The English Home and Ancestry of Samuel Boreman, Wethersfield, Conn, Thomas Boreman, Ipswich, Mass. with Some Account of Their Descendants (now called Boardman) in America, p. 235-241.

He died 30 Jul 1761 in Litchfield, CT. http://www.familyorigins.com/users/h/u/g/Beryl-C-Hughes/FAMO4-0001/d537.htm#P1410
