Thomas Andrew Scotchie
Asheville – Thomas Andrew Scotchie, 47, of Asheville, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008. He was the son of Andrew Albert and Consetta Bruno Scotchie. He was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church and was a partner in the family business, Mountain Valley Water Distributors.
Tom was a wonderful son, a loving and devoted husband and father who fully embraced life.
Weekends belonged to his family, who were his pride and joy. He was very active with his sons in sports and was coach for the teams they played on. He took his boys camping, boating, sledding, skiing, fishing, and to baseball and football games, and rock concerts. He rescued stray animals and brought them home for his sons. He loved having family outings that kept his family close. He and his wife loved to dance together. He also excelled as an uncle. They loved being with their funloving Uncle Tom. He also loved his job, his employees, and his customers. He often thanked his parents for bringing him into the business.
His boys have been robbed of a father who adored them. His wife has been robbed of her best friend, her boyfriend, and the love of her life. His parents and sisters and brother have lost the big heart and bright smile of the family's center. The loss is unbearable. His employees lost not only a boss but a friend. He would tell them when anything happened, Family is first.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Scotchie is survived by his wife of 22 years, Theresa; four sons, Ryan Thomas, Andrew Albert III, Thomas Andrew II, and William Jackson, all of Asheville; one brother, Joseph Andrew Scotchie (Anna) of Bayside, NY; four sisters, Virginia Marie Scotchie of Columbia, SC, Marybeth Holleman (Rick) of Anchorage, AK, Carolyn Hawks (Jeff) of Greensboro, NC, and Angela Ann Scotchie (Paul) of Asheville; parents-in-law Leo and Margaret Trancynger; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, from 7:00-8:30PM at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, January 21, in the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home, with Fr. David Scotchie officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scotchie Boys' trust fund through Capital Bank, 918 Merrimon Ave., Asheville, NC 28804. Condolences may be sent through the web site at www.morrisfamilyfuneralhome.com.
