BRAUN, MAGDALEN LOUISE, "MAGGIE", "MEG", (nee SCHAIRER), 82 - passed away peacefully on Monday December 4, 2006 at her home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Born February 8, 1924 in Egg Harbor City. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna Schairer. "Maggie" was raised on Hillcrest Dairy Farm in Egg Harbor City, and attended St. Nicholas School. She married her husband Albert on May 1, 1948. Together they raised five daughters before retiring to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1989. Maggie was very active in her daughters' 4-H club, Girl Scouts troop and PTA. She enjoyed working in the greenhouse and behind the deli counter of several Egg Harbor City markets. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, traveling, and tennis along with cooking, sewing, and crafts. In 2001, "Meg" as she was affectionately called in later years, was chosen along with her husband as one of twelve recipients of the Volunteer of the Year Award for their community service. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary for the VFW Post 10420 and St Michaels Church, Surfside Beach, where she was an usher and communicant. Meg leaves behind a family who loves her deeply, her devoted husband of 58 years, Albert "Al" Braun; five daughters, Kathleen (Harry) Hartman of Jackson, Linda Mllloti of North East, MD, Rosemary (Sam) Cipolettl of San Jose, CA, Alison Seiler of Dorothy, and Phyllis Braun of Weekstown; six grandchildren, Dan and Mike Hartman, Jessica Bennett, Alisa and Amanda Craig and Lauren Cipolettl; sisters, Yetta (Guy) Bucci and Berta Franchetti of Hammonton, and Stella (Armand) Tetrault, Dorothy (Stan) Grillo, Margie Walters, all of Galloway Township; brother Louis (Judith) Schairer and sister-in-law Madeline Campbell, both of Galloway Township; 27 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Schairer and sister, Erna McCaughey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006 at St Nicholas Church, 525 St. Louis Aye, Egg Harbor City. Viewing and visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Meg was diagnosed with ALS in October 2005.
