Mrs. Lee H. Burrus passed away at three o'clock Friday afternoon at the family home in this place after a comparatively short illness. Less than two weeks before her death she was taken suddenly ill with what the physicians pronounced as acute attack of catarrah of the stomach. But other complications developed indicating a general breaking down. Her last days were spent in the calm peace of resignation to the inevitable. She died with the members of her family about her bedside and warm friends near by who were present to comfort her last hours.
Mrs. Burrus' maiden name was Dora Thiese[Theis]. She was born in the province of Hanover, Germany, and came to this country with her mother when four years of age, her father having previously settled here. She came to Traverse in Le Sueur County where she resided until her marriage on February 2nd, 1868. After her marriage she resided with her husband in Le Sueur County fourteen years when they removed to Janesville. They have resided here about thirty years.
Mrs. Burrus was the mother of eight children, two only of whom survive her, Frank, of Great Falls, Montana, and Mrs. Nora Pritchett, of Minneapolis. She is also survived by her husband. The funeral was conducted Sunday morning from St. Ann's Catholic church, Rev. Thos. J. McCarty, of Winona, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
