Charles Bateman Retired Farmer, Dies; Was 93
Charles Bateman, 93, well-known retired farmer of Rush county, residing south of Straughn, died Thursday in the Henry County Hospital. Mr. Bateman was born in Dublin, June 20, 1857, the son of John and Elizabeth Andrews Bateman. He was the oldest male resident of Washington township, Rush county.

His wife, the former Annise Vickery, preceded him in death in 1945, breaking a marriage tie of 64 years. Mr. Bateman was a former active member of the K of P Lodge at Straughn and the Odd Fellows Lodge at Lewisville. He was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Toms of Lewisville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Glenn Hubbell of Milton; two grandsons: John and Mark Hubbell both of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.

The body has been taken from the Doll Funeral Home in Dublin to the residence where friends may call and where services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. John D. Yundt officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
