Donald E. "Don" Parson, age 77, of the Town of Richmond, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at his home.
Born on Sept. 19, 1933 in Green Bay, he was the son of the late Harvey and Clara (Dobs) Parson. On April 13, 1953 Don enlisted with the United States Air Force and served his country for almost four years during the Korean War.
On Aug. 18, 1953 he was united in marriage to Melva Jurgensen in Biloxi, Miss. Don was a fireman in the Milwaukee area. He worked as a Plant Superintendent for the Northern Shoe Plant in Pulaski and later worked for the Little Rapids Corp in Shawano.
Don is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Mel; three daughters, Deb (Tony) Davids of Bowler, Vicki Parson of Bonduel, Julie (Bryan) Gagnon of Shawano; a son, Scott (Debbie) Parson of Shawano; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Vi) Parson of Coleman; and a sister, Karen Ann (Chuck) Arvelo of Milwaukee.
Don was preceded in death by: two granddaughters, Jennifer Wolske and Brynn Gagnon; his parents; a brother, Jim Parson; and a sister, Donna Jean Bitters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Marty Black officiating.
