"Miss Edith Curtis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Curtis of southwest of Stafford, died at Bakersfield, California, last Wednesday and was brought to Stafford Monday night of this week by her mother, who had gone out there in response to her illness.
"Miss Curtis has been in Bakersfield for the past five years and was employed in a hospital in that city during that time. She was only sick about ten days before her death and the news was a real shock to her relatives and friends here.
"Funeral arrangements had not been made up until the time of going to press as her sisters were coming from California and will not arrive until to-night or to-morrow.
"The deceased was known to a large number of friends here who will join us in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives." (This may be copied only if proper credit is given to researcher. Also, it would appear that her name may have been misspelled in the obituary, as her tombstone appears to read Edyth, not Edith.)
