"Death Ended Her Suffering
"Mrs. J.M. Curtis, Highly Repected Lady of Eastern Ohio Township, Passed Away Friday Night. Funeral At Leesburg Tuesday.
"Mrs. J.M. Curtis, --- passed away Friday night at the home of a grand-daughter in Stafford. Mrs. Curtis had been in poor health for some time past, but her death was unexpected at this time.
"Funeral services were conducted from the Leesburg church at half past two o'clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Tom Coats of York township, who was assisted by Rev. Wm. Boaz. Interment was in the Leesburg cemetery.
"Mrs. Curtis had been a resident of Kansas since the year 1878, locating in Rush county with her young husband, where they resided for many from there to Stafford county thirty-one year (sic) ago.
"A Life Sketch
"Tryssia A. Miller was born near Galena, Jo Davis county, Ill., January 14, 1858, and departed this life January 22, 1932, at the age of 74 years and 8 days.
"In January 1877, she was married to James M. Curtis at Galena, Illinois. In 1878 they moved to Rush county, Kansas, and experienced the pioneer life of Kansas. With their family, they moved to Stafford county in the fall of 1901 and located on the farm, which has since been their home.
"To this union, ten children were born, nine of whom survive. One daughter, Edythe, preceded her mother in death in April 1912. Three grandchildren and one great-grandson also preceded her.
"She united with the Church of Christ during the time the family was living in Rush county and was a faithful member during her entire life.
"Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Marie Ashford of Raymond, Washington; Miss Minnie Curtis of Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Juanita Soice of Stafford (Kansas); six sons, J.A. Curtis of Garden City, Kansas; Roy O. Curtis of Sublette, Kansas; Herbert B. Curtis of Wichita (Kansas); Ernest E. Curtis of Stafford, Kansas, and Robert L. Curtis of Seattle, Washington; nineteen grand-children, one great-grandson and one sister, Mrs. Rachel Curtis of McCracken, Kansas, other relatives and a host of friends."
