In the 1860 Census for Burleson County, TX, she is listed as Catherine Clanton, age 25, and is living in the home of her brother, 35 year old David Clanton.
Anna Catherine Clanton first married John Ryan in Burleson County, TX sometime after 1860. They had one child, Irena Courtney Ryan born in 1862. John Ryan died in the Civil War.
She married second Curren Gray on June 21, 1866 in Burleson County, Texas. This was the second marriage for both. They were still living in Burleson County at the time of the 1870 census which showed they had one daughter together, Jemima, born in 1868 and also living with them was Anna's 8 year old daughter, Irena Courtney Ryan, from her marriage to John Ryan.
About 1872 they moved to near Valley View in Cooke County about 10 miles southeast of Gainsville. They had a second daughter Virginia born there in 1874. That same year her husband Curren died.
After the death of Curren, Anna Catherine Clanton Ryan Gray remarried on February 05, 1878 to William Green Daniel. This union appears in the marriage records of Cooke County where her name was entered as "Annie C. Gray". According to findagrave, Annie C. Gray Daniel was died March 25, 1879 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery east of Valley View in Cooke County. Her tombstone reads Annie C. Daniel w/o W. G. Daniel.
Anna Catherine had a cousin named William Mark Clanton who married Sarah "Sallie" Gray, Curren Gray's youngest daughter from his marriage to Sarah Ann Hunn.
Anna was the mother of three children, all girls. After Anna died her three children were dispersed to relatives in Ellis County, Texas (according to the 1880 Census). Her oldest daughter, Irene Ryan, was sent to live her step-sister Sallie, daughter of Curren Gray and wife of William Mark Clanton. Her 2 younger daughters with Curren, Jemima and Virginia, were sent to live with their half-brother Elijah Gray, Curren's youngest son.
