Benjamin was born December 29, 1923 in Garrett, Texas to Marion and Ina Belle (Merritt) Cave. Growing up in Garrett, Benjamin attended schools there and graduated from Garrett High School in 1943. After graduation, he proudly served in our US Air Force as an Engineer. Upon completing his military obligations, he joined Braniff Airlines and worked as a Ticket Agent for many years.
On July 1, 1946, he married Bertha Mae Rogers of Ennis. They made their home in Ennis, then to Cedar Creek Lake in 1977, and then to Waxahachie in 2006. They raised two sons and two daughters.
He was active in civic clubs and served as president of the local Optimist Club. His hobbies included carpentry, fishing and yard work. He loved being outside.
Benjamin is survived by two sons: Paul Cave and David Cave; two daughters: Wanda Wickliffe and Vicki Hodge; four sisters: Maybelle Donaldson, Ina Mae Reeves and Charlotte Stockton; eight grandchildren and eight g-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Bertha Mae, on July 5, 2013; one brother, Donald Cave and one sister, Clydie Smith.
