Glen Angelio Basinger was the first of two twin boys born to John Cleveland Basinger and Bertha Lillian Wolverton in the rural community of Rankin, Ellis County, Texas on December 6, 1930. His younger twin brother was named Ben Grant Basinger. Glen grew up in Rankin and attened lived in Rankin, attending schools at Rankin and begin his schooling in the Rankin school before transferring to Avalon and finally graduating from Ennis High School in 1948.
He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1952, completed a tour of duty during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1954.
He married Miss Barbara Ann Finley on 3 May 1956 and they had three children: Anslie Ann, Cleveland Douglass and Brooke Lillian. Glen and Barbara were divorced on 17 Feb 1972.
After graduating from Abilene Christian College in 1958, he taught and coached for the Tye school system. In 1961, he began a career as a stock broker for Epler, Gerin & Turner and eventually became an independent investor after moving to Dallas in 1968. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, a supporter of the Happy Hill Farm for Children, and faithful attendee at the annual Rankin Reunions.
Glen passed away on February 6, 2014, in Dallas, Texas after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his twin brother Ben of Ft. Worth, his three children, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
