Born to George Delbert and Martha Ellen (Johnson) Nichols in Cairo, Illinois. The children in this family were Myrtle, Terrance Vincent, Albert, Raymond and Vera Evelyn.
From a history written by his sister Vera: "Albert went to Safford School and attended Cairo Baptist Church. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. This was at the time Pancho Villa was raiding the border. He served in the Navy. He was stationed at Treasure Island, San Francisco, Calif., and jumped ship in Columbia, South America.
He met Pansy Buchanan in Hardin, Kansas during harvest season. She was working in a small hotel where they cooked and baked for the field hands. Albert and Pansy were married at Topeka, Kansas on April 17, 1916.
They lived in Topeka where Albert worked as a milkman. Six children were born of this marriage, the oldest three in Topeka, and the youngest in St. Louis, Missouri: Bert Lee, Dorothy, Pansy Lee, Edith Louise, Margaret Ann and Robert.
Albert had a lump removed from his neck when he was about 27, but it kept recurring and finally proved fatal. He died on Memorial Day 1946. He was cremated and placed at Valhalla Memorial on St. Charles Rock Road in St Louis County, MO."
