Joint funeral services for two airplane crash victims were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel. Honored were George Allan Day, 35, and his son, David, 10.
Mr. Day, his son, and the pilot, Glade M. Southam, died instantly when their 1975 model Cessna 172 crashed in the rugged Ashley National Forest 14 miles south of Manila, in Daggett County, June 27.
David Day, 10, was born December 17, 1964 in Cedar City, Utah to George Allan and Catherine Renee Decker Day. He was a student of Central Elementary School fifth grade, member of the LDS Church, Vernal Second Ward.
Survivors are his mother; one brother, Joseph A.; three sisters, Dana, Tonia, and Catryna, all of Vernal; four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Day, Prescott, Arizona; and Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo B. Decker, Snowflake, Arizona.
Burial for father and son was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Thompson's Vernal Mortuary.
