Arlene Louise (Oswald) Eby, age 91, is now with her Lord and Savior after passing away peacefully, on June 30, 2023, at her home on Lake Michigan. She was born on October 8, 1931, in Galeton, Pennsylvania, to the Reverend Carl and Henrietta Oswald.
She grew up a preacher's child, moving often with her parents and two brothers, Carl Jr. (Ozzie) and Nathaniel Oswald, during her adolescent years. She graduated from Munising, Michigan High School in 1950, and attended nursing school in Evanston, Illinois. After college, she came to St. Ignace, Michigan where her parents resided. She worked at Vitek's Restaurant, a local establishment. She met John (Jack) Eby, and they married on October 31, 1953. She became a homemaker and raised four children.
Arlene is survived by her children; Ruth (Eby) Paquin, Mark (Margaret) Eby, and Lynda Eby, all of St. Ignace, and David (Teresa) Eby of Canton, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Joanna Oswald of Daytona Beach, Florida and Theresa Oswald of Jasper, Michigan; as well as nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers, her husband and her longtime friend and companion Malvin Wilson of Columbus, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in St. Ignace, Michigan. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery in St. Ignace next to her late husband.
