|Death: ||Jul. 13, 1943|
Staff Sergeant Donald L. Donahoo was a soldier in the Anti-Tank Company 157th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division. He was killed on 13 July 1943 in the neighborhood of Licodia in southern Sicily. S/Sgt Donahoo and several other crewmembers of his gun were killed or severely wounded.
He was first buried in a small cemetery at Licodia on 14 July 1943. S/Sgt Donahoo was reburied in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in grave F-65-778 on 7 August 1943. S/Sgt Donahoo found his last resting place in the Sicily Rome Cemetery at Nettuno (Italy) in grave H-10-9.
Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the Gela Cemetery between July 1943 and 1947. I am writing a book abut the GELA Cemetery. Hope to have the book finished next year (2013)
