Ms. Tanya Ann "Renee" (Price) Goodman, age 53, of Moss Point, MS passed away on Friday, September, 27 2013. She was born October 27, 1959.
Renee was avid about traveling the world and meeting new people. In her free time she loved to go deep sea diving and painting. She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.
During the Iraq war Renee worked as a civilian contractor where she was injured on two separate occasions. The Forward Operating Base Marez bombing took place on December 21, 2004. Renee had just left her table to return her tray, moments after passing the suicide bomber, the explosion happened and she was hit by shrapnel. She returned to Iraq and was later injured again when a mortar exploded in her camp. Shrapnel came ripping through the wall of the conex building hitting her in the back. She made many good friends during her time in Iraq and she also lost good friends. Renee suffered terribly with survivors guilt and had just started to share her memories of the bombing shortly before her death. Renee received the "Defense of Freedom Medal" for the injuries she received while working in Iraq.
Renee is preceded in death by her grandparents, "Jimmy" and Viola Hudson; two uncles, "J.T." Hudson and "Bobby" Hudson; two aunts "Jackie" Hudson and Viola Hester; her beloved Hercules; and a great family friend Mr. Al Goodman.
Ms. Goodman is survived by her parents, Donald E. Price and Joyce (Hudson) Price; brother, Don (Leslie) Price Jr; son, Shaun Goodman; grandson, Nicholas Graham; uncle, Edward F. Hudson; two aunts, Shiyoko Hudson and Annette Hudson; two nephews, Seth Price and Joshua Price; niece Cheryl Ann Price; her beloved Oreo; many cousins; and a host of worldwide friends.
NOTE: Tanya Ann "Renee" Price was adopted by Donald Price, Sr. at the age of six years old when her mother remarried. Renee's biological father is Mr. James Cecil Gibson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home with a Funeral Service to follow. Brother Archie Holley will be officiating. There will be no committal service. Renee's ashes will be scattered into the Gulf of Mexico and at her grandparents graves where her memorial marker will be laid.
