WAPATO - Glen Dale Graham died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Emerald Care Nursing Home in Wapato.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1921 to Raymond and Margaret Graham in Axtell, Kansas. Glen and his family moved to the Yakima Valley in 1936. His first job in Washington was that of a farm laborer. After working in the fields for a couple of years, he started working for the Washington State Game Dept. at the fish hatchery and game farm. In 1942, Glen volunteered for the U.S. Coast Guard and served in Seattle, Bremerton and Port Townsend. Also in 1942, he married the love of his life, Annabelle Desserault. They were happily married for 64 years. While in the Coast Guard, Glen wrecked his car in Bremerton. There, a man said, "You can fix that!" He provided Glen with the tools and a place to fix it and the rest is history. Glen worked for Hahn Motor Co. and later for Cheshiere Pontiac. From 1949 to 1974, he built, owned, and operated the Wapato Body Shop. In 1950, Glen and Annabelle built their family home. Here, they raised their four devoted children. Glen was an avid hunter, fisherman, and boater. He loved to barbeque and make pancakes for friends and family. He spent many hours building, repairing, and creating a wide variety of things for his home, family, and friends. He also taught his grandsons the use of tools and the pride of craftsmanship. With the encouragement and guidance of Father Salomon, Glen became a member of Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church on his 60th Wedding Anniversary. He was a member of the American Legion Post #133 and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margaret; sisters, Eileen Polly and Maxine Keith; and brother, Leonard. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; children, Michael (Christine), Judy Beaman (Neal), Linda Sawers (Michael), and Jerry; sister, Raedean Geffee; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
