who died 2__th of August 1818
in the 4__th year of his age.
Documented descendants of his father John McCollister (1775-1839) who came from VA to Greenville, SC around 1800 or a little later. John was first noted in an 1808 land transaction with a gentleman from Spartanburg, SC. John's wife, Nancy, was born in NC and released dower for that sale.
The children of John and Nancy named in probate records were Kinson, Sarah, William, Elizabeth, Nancy, John, Loren Alfred, and Pierce.
The descendants assumed all variations of the name: McAlister, McAllister, McCallister, McCollister, and lived in GA, SC, LA, MS, TX, NV, and FL.
