OBITUARY from Waycross Journal-Herald dated Feb 20, 1936....
Royce Vance Carter, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Carter of Jeff Davis County, formerly of Waycross, died yesterday afternoon at a local hospital, following an illness of about three weeks.
The family lived in Waycross until several years ago.
Beside the parents, the deceased is survived by a brother, Earl Carter, and two sisters, Miss Laverne Carter and Miss Eleanor Carter, and his grandfather, J. M. Wilcox of Waycross.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at Pine Level Church, near Alma, with burial at Pine Level cemetery, the Rev. W. H. Wilcox, officiating.
The body will be at the home of an uncle, Seward R. Wilcox, 1122 Margaret Street, until tomorrow morning.
W. L. Hinson and Company is in charge of arrangements.

His family was living in Hazelhurst at the time of his death in 1936. He was the oldest son of Luther Carter and Lavada Wilcox Carter. Three years after he died, his immediate family moved to Portsmouth, Virginia in December 1939.
His siblings included William Earl Carter, 1924-2007, Laverne C Oliver , 1926-2010 and Eleanor Carter Thomas, still living.
He predeceased his parents who are buried in Chesapeake, Virginia and are listed below.
