William Evan Ackley, Sr., 82, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born January 17, 1931 in Gary to Thamer and Sadie Ackley.
He married Sharon Barrett January 14, 1961. She died October 30, 1992.
He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Ackley of Elkhart and Cyndie (Jeff) Burt of Goshen; a son, William Ackley, Jr. of Georgia; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Carroll Ackley of Portage.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Maynard Ackley and a sister, Beth Wagner.
A Korean War veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy in Japan.
A member of VFW Post # 985, Mr. Ackley enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and Bluegrass music.
