Samuel Perry Cox was born December 31, 1852 to John and Mary (Patrick) Cox in Kingsbury, Indiana.

Samuel Perry Cox married February 13, 1873, Livingston County, Illinois, Mary Elizabeth Fry daughter of Solomon Fry. They had children:

1. Olive "Myrtle" Cox born 1873 in Illinois-d1941) m1894 William J. Farrar.
2. Bertha Arilla Cox born 1875 in Illinois-d1963) m John Albert Sydney Tuesburg.
3. Merrill Myrh Cox born 1877 in Illinois-d1951) m Myrtle Agnes Baillie.
4. Lela Fay Cox born 1879 in Illinois-d1956) m Alonzo Carlton Bolen.
5. Glenn Gale Cox (1882-1955) m 1/w Della Castleman, 2/w Nellie M. Quinn, 3/w Maude Ziegler. The second wife divorced him and married Todd Rea. (54)
6. Iva Lulu Cox (1884-1918) m 1/h Walter Cobbles, 2/h John King.

Samuel Cox, Age 19, single, is a farm laborer, in the 1870 Census of Newtown, Livingston County, Illinois. (Newtown is a township still today (2013). Early maps also show a town of Newtown.

They were in LaSalle County, Illinois, on December 30, 1873, when their daughter Myrtle Cox was born. "In about 1879 Samuel P. Cox and Mary (Fry) Cox, loaded their possessions on wagons and with teams drove across the intervening states to the pioneer country of Nebraska. They located in a new and almost unsettled region on the Nebraska prairies, and theirs was one of the first frame houses in the section, where most of the homes were sod houses or dugouts." (69)

"After a number of years of residence in Nebraska, the Cox family moved to Southwest Missouri, lived about five years near Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri, then spent a year in Livingston County, Illinois, and in 1900 moved to North Bend Township in Strake County, Indiana, where Mr. and Mrs. Cox have since lived (1915) on a farm. Mr. Cox is now sixty-two and his wife sixty, and both are substantial citizens of Starke County. They are members of the Methodist Church and he is a democrat in politics." (69)

Samuel P. Cox and his wife Mary, along with two sons and a granddaughter Della age 6 are in the 1910 Census of North Bend Township, Starke County, Indiana.

Samuel P. Cox and his wife Mary, with a granddaughter Kanna Cox, age 15 are in the 1920 Census of North Bend Township, Starke County, Indiana.

Samuel Perry Cox died April 11, 1926, Ober, Starke County, Indiana. He was buried April 14, 1926 at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox, Starke County, Indiana. ( )
