Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Letha Locke Friday, December 23rd by Bro. Baugh Smith at the Fox graveyard on Flynns Creek.
She was born January 4, 1835 and died Thursday December 22, 1932, making her stay in this world 96 years, 11 months and 19 days. Her husband, Joe Locke preceded her to the grave February 2, 1912. He was a Civil War veteran.
She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Doe Jones, Mrs. Harve Spurlock, Mrs. Merrian Locke and Joe Locke of Earlington, KY, Willie Locke, of Greenriver, UT, Jim and Charlie Locke, of Gainesboro Route 3. Four of the children Charlie, Joe, Jim and Willie, are still living. Besides these a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her death.
Mrs. Locke was a member of the Church of Christ she obeyed the gospel at an early age and lived a faithful life until her death.
She had been with her son, Charlie Locke, of Flynn's Lick for some fourteen years or more. She had always had good health. She was only confined to her bed three weeks before death. She was a woman that always had a glad smile to meet any one who came around her.
A dear one has gone to heaven, one whose life was a benediction to her friends and loved ones. Her's was a life of contentment and good cheer. She was ever busy with things to add to the joy and happiness of those she loved. Dear one, our Guardian angel, you cannot come back to us, but it will be our blessed privilege when this life is over to go to you and dwell in the mansion prepared for us.
