She became a member of Second Baptist Church of Detroit where she worked untiringly, receiving many awards including being crowned Mammoth Queen. Mrs. Agee remained faithful in the work of the Lord until her health began to fail. She returned to South Carolina in 1999 and rejoined Antioch Baptist Church. Upon returning, she resided with her niece, Shirley T. Ford, and later was a long-time resident of Longwood Plantation Assisted Living Home, Orangeburg. Her only son, Clarence Smith; daughter-in-law, Minnie Peals Smith; six brothers; and three sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Alan Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Sheryl Smith and Michael Smith, both of Teaneck, N.J.; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Smith; one great-great-granddaughter, Rochelle Smith; one sister, Senetta Smith of Jersey City, N.J.; two special nieces and caregivers, Shirley T. Ford and Brenda Avant; 11 nieces; seven nephews; three sisters-inlaw; and a host of relatives and friends.
