MRS. W. D. COTTRELL
Sarah Catherine Brimm was born in Benton County, Iowa, July 17, 1869 and died at her home in Laurens Monday, September 20, 1909, being at the time of her death 40 years, 2 months and 3 days old. She was the second daughter of W. A. Brimm and her mother died when she was about ten years old. Her early life was spent largely in Benton County near the place of her birth. She was married in Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa, June 22, 1887 to Warren D. Cottrell and in 1891 they moved to Pocahontas County and settled on the farm northwest of town where they lived until about a year and a half ago when they moved to town.
Six children were born to this Union, three of whom have preceded the mother to the great beyond.
Eunice aged eight years and Nathan aged two years died within fifteen days of each other. Amy died at
the age of four years. Besides the husband, three daughters survive their mother, Laura, Matilda and Orella. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. J. H. Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska, a brother Charles and brother William H. of Laura, Colorado and an aged father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Brimm of this place.
She was a member of the Methodist church and the services were in charge of her pastor. Rev. J. J. Bushnell. Interment was made in the Laurens cemetery. She was a member of the Eastern Star and
and the Royal Neighbors, both of which attended in a body. The Royal Neighbors had charge of the
services at the grave.
Mrs. Cottrell has been a sufferer for years with kidney trouble and when the last attack came it found
her in no condition to combat its force and few could realize that she was so bad until there was no hope.
The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
