He was married to Miss Jennie L. Myers, June 26, 1895. To them five children were born - three daughters and two sons - all of whom are living. They are Grace E., Edith F., Mary A., William S. and Clifford C.
Besides the wife and children he leaves the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Slaymaker, six brothers and one sister: William H. and Eldridge D. Slaymaker, Mrs. Mary B. Cooperider, Albert H., James R., Clarence B., and Lester E. Slaymaker.
Mr. Slaymaker was a man highly esteemed by all who knew him. Quiet and unassuming by disposition, he yet had many friends, and of these the oldest were the warmest, for he possessed those traits of friendship which bound men to him in that bond of brotherhood which is the ideal human relation. Loving and sympathic as a husband, kind and indulgent as a father, and upright and just among his fellow men, his untimely death leaves a pall of sorrow over all, whether related to him by ties of kinship or by friendship. His virtues were many and his faults few.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Marengo, Sunday morning, June 5, at 10 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. Fred B. Tucker, the pastor. The burial was in charge ofthe I.O.O.F. lodge, of which he was a member and the remains laid away in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
