Friends are being received at Fred S. Bowser funeral home here, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by Rev. Merwin Schaub, pastor of West Freedom Methodist Church. Burial will be made in West Monterey cemetery.
* Robert spent his last days in the home of his daughter Lula Belle. I was there just a few months before he died and remember my father picking me up and holding me over the bed so I could meet my great-grandfather. You could tell he was in desperate pain but he still managed a smile and seemed happy to see yet another of his great-grandchildren.
I still own the family bible kept by his wife, Effa Luella Durnell, as it was one of my father's prized possessions and passed down to me.
