Funeral services for Marine Cpl Donald E. Kolling, 23, killed in action in Korea May 29, were held at Brookville Sunday afternoon, with burial following in Arlington (Parish) cemetery. The body was accompanied to Brookville by Cpl. Kolling's brother, Robert Lee Kolling, who had been in Army service in Korea.

Before going into the Marines, young Kolling lived at Brookville with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Degler. His father, Leslie Eugene Kolling, is a Dayton resident.


Corporal Kolling was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on May 29, 1951. Corporal Kolling was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
