He left Europe and landed in the America's at Lima, Peru. He then worked his way north and entered the United States at El Paso, Texas on 28 Feb 1908. He went from Texas to Minnesota where I find several more families by the name of Guggemos. He married Ida L Witzel there in 1920. Sly and Ida traveled from place to place working at nearly any job during the depression. Their oldest son George died at 10 years of age in Cody, Wyoming.
They ended up in Washington state where they settled down.
His World War II draft card lists him as: Age as 55, eye color hazel, hair is black and gray, 5 ft 6 inches tall, weight is 145 pounds.
In 1947 Sly died in a car accident near his home in Mt Vernon, Washington.
Sly and Ida had 7 children: George, Susie, Leo, Margurete, Viola, Ruth and Anna.
